Advances and Challenges in Remote Configuration of Connected Cars - Stefan Aust, NEC Communications
Over-the-air (OTA) configuration is an essential feature of connected cars. In particular, the remote configuration offers a helpful solution to the ever increasing number of vehicular recalls. A challenge in today’s industry is the reliable software upgrade of in-vehicular units. We propose a prototype in which various OTA configuration schemes can be evaluated and optimized. Further, important hardware dependencies will be discussed in this presentation. Such hardware dependencies are relevant to adjust the OTA settings of the target platform successfully. It is shown that the Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) open software offers a cost-effective solution for the remote configuration of connected vehicles.
